Filmmaking deserves a home.
I trained at drama school. I've worked on sets as an actor, a writer, and a producer. And the one thing I kept running into was this: the industry doesn't have a home.
Your career lives in spreadsheets, Facebook groups, WhatsApp threads, and word of mouth. If you're not in the right circle - or the right city - you're invisible. That's not good enough.
Not a patchwork of scattered tools, DMs, and closed doors - but one living, breathing place where the industry actually lives.
Your career is more than your last credit. You're the sum of your work, your collaborators, your reputation, your risks, your near-misses and your wins. FILMD should hold all of that.
Opportunity shouldn't depend on who you already know. Talent is everywhere; access is not. FILMD exists to narrow that gap - so the next great DoP, soundie, or writer doesn't stay invisible just because they weren't in the right WhatsApp group.
Productions run better when everything is in one place. Teams, roles, paperwork, payments, call sheets, comms - scattered tools create scattered teams.
Trust is as important as talent. Verified profiles, accredited skills, clear contracts, compliant payments (coming soon) - these aren't "nice to haves". They're what let people sleep at night and come back for the next job.
Technology should serve the craft, not squeeze it. FILMD is here to free filmmakers from chaos, not to dictate how films are made.
So I built FILMD. One platform where every actor, filmmaker, and crew member can build a real professional profile, get discovered, find work, and actually get paid properly (coming soon) - regardless of where they're from or who they know.
We now have over 20,000 members across the UK. Entrepreneur UK named us a UK100 Startup to Watch. But the thing I'm most proud of? The messages from filmmakers who found their first job, their first collaborator, or their first break - through FILMD.
In time, the industry should run on FILMD.
This platform is for you. And it always will be.
